Courtney Love has revealed in an interview with Huffington Post that she has given Jay Z permission to use lyrics from Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” for use on the rappers upcoming record "Magna Carta Holy Grail."

"I'm letting Jay-Z use lyrics – Francis (her and Cobain’s daughter) would freak [if she knew this.] Jay-Z's huge and we're friends. I mean we're not besties or anything...." Love told Huff Post – then added: "They [used it] without asking, which is kind of nervy but the business side has been taken care of so it's fine."

So - it sounds like it didn't really matter that she "gave permission" and they were planning on doing it anyway.

Love – who is in the process of promoting an upcoming tour certainly has a long history of exaggerating the circumstances of stories in order to get more press coverage. She is a pro at making headlines. With that in mind - we'll believe the Jay Z/Nirvana connection when we hear it.

Magna Carta Holy Grail will be officially released on July 4th.
