Woman Killed By Jet Engine Blast In The Caribbean

Maho Beach is a popular tourist stop for people vacationing on the Caribbean island of Sint Maarten. Why is it so popular?

Well, you can lay on the beach next to a working airport and watch planes fly right over you as you sip on a pina colada. Many risk-takers like to grab hold of the fence that separates the beach and the Princess Juliana International Airport as planes prepare to take off so they can feel the burst of air from the jet engines.

A 57-year-old woman from New Zealand has died after doing just that. She was blown away by the jet engine blast and was knocked into a cement retaining wall. She was seriously injured and passed away after being taken to the local hospital.
