A Harness For Chickens Exists, So You Can Take Your Hen For A Walk

Even if you don't live on a farm, chickens are having a moment online. Stories about chicken coop mansions and people hanging cabbages to help their hens exercise have gone viral. And now, if you're looking for one more way to help your chick get her cardio on, Amazon has the solution: a chicken harness. Yep, you read that right. Amazon has a harness that will allow you to take your favorite hen everywhere.

Slowly but surely, hens are becoming the new house pet (don't ask me how that happened). According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, nearly one percent of the entire U.S. population owned a fowl (a bird that can lay eggs), and others said they were likely going to acquire one within the next five years. That makes for a total of 13 million people that either have a fowl or want one—and this was back in 2013, so you know these numbers have likely increased since then.

If you were thinking about joining in on the trend, go ahead and do it—93 percent of cities allow for backyard fowls. I know, who would've thought?! But if you're not really into the whole having a bird for a pet thing, you could always give it as a gift for that friend who does (because, as these numbers show, you probably know someone who loves those little cluckers).

One customer was very satisfied with their purchase and wrote a review: "I have a favorite hen that I can't resist holding because she's so fluffy and sof,t and now I'm able to take her for a walk. It took less than a minute for her to get used to it. Lol ,I let her take the lead while she investigated around my yard. Happy chickens lay happy eggs."

Bonus: It comes with a free storage bag—you know, in case your hen lays an egg as you walk the block.
