Woman Lifting Weights Stops Thieves Breaking Into Dead Neighbor's Home

A woman from Oklahoma City has been lifting weights in her yard because her gym was forced to close due to the coronavirus pandemic. Around 6 a.m. on Monday (April 6) morning, Debbie Brooks was doing shoulder presses when she noticed a car was parked in her neighbor's driveway. She thought it was odd since her neighbor had passed away a few months ago.

"So, I'm just working out, doing shoulder presses," she told KOCO-TV. "I noticed out of the corner of my eye, I see a car with all the doors open."

When she saw people exiting the house with bags of stuff, she jumped into action. Debbie racked her weights and went to confront the thieves.

"I just wanted to catch them, and they head-dived into the car," Brooks said. "I don't know what I would've done if I caught them. Somebody would have gotten a whooping. It makes me so mad that somebody is doing that."

The suspects managed to escape before the police arrived. She told the station chasing after them was thrilling.

"It was pretty exciting. I had a great workout that morning," she said.
