Kirk Hammett's Guitar From Metallica's 'One' Music Video Sells For $112,500

A guitar with a historic place in heavy metal history has drawn an impressive sale price at auction.

Kirk Hammett's guitar from Metallica's first hit music video, "One," has been purchased by an anonymous buyer for $112,500.

The ESP 400 Series Natural solid body electric guitar was autographed by Hammett himself in silver ink near. It was described as being in "excellent" condition and was sold with its original case and a certificate of authenticity.

Despite releasing three albums previous to ...And Justice For All, in 1989 "One" was among the first music videos Metallica ever shot.

The five-minute single edit for the video quickly became a hit late-night on MTV and made it into daytime rotation. The exposure "One" provided kicked off Metallica's ascent to the mainstream, and laid the groundwork for the band's massively successful self-titled "Black" album in 1991.

"One" has remained one of the band's most popular, with fans last summer voting it the second greatest Metallica track of all-time, behind 1986's "Master of Puppets."
