Making A Difference with L.A. Pride

(Aired June 5, 2022) Lisa Foxx interviews Gerald Garth, Vice President Community Programs & Initiatives for CSW and on the Board of LA Pride...

Christopher Street West (CSW), a 501(c)3 nonprofit, organized the world’s first permitted parade advocating for gay rights on June 28, 1970 to commemorate the Stonewall Rebellion on Christopher Street in New York City the year prior. Over 50 years later, we have built a rich history as an active voice for the LGBTQ+ community across the Greater Los Angeles area.

While we’re best known for producing the LA Pride Parade & Festival (one of the largest Pride celebrations in the country, thanks to you!) we also organize, sponsor or support other community events throughout the year, and work with our nonprofit, philanthropic, community and corporate partners to further diversity, equity and inclusion.

CSW / LA Pride is proud to represent Los Angeles, CA as a member of InterPride, the global association of over 400 Pride organizations from more than 70 countries.

Ready to make a difference?

LA Pride is more than a parade and a party in June. Pride means supporting each other, giving back, and taking care of our community. Last year, we launched PRIDE MAKES A DIFFERENCE, our 365 initiative to support the LGBTQ+ community of Los Angeles through donation drives, acts of services, and volunteering events. Check out what we have planned for Pride month, and all yearlong right here. Our calls-to-action in the areas of food and housing insecurity, mental wellness, career and business, and youth & elders give everyone a way to make a difference for our LGBTQ+, and other communities of Los Angeles.

n 2021.

Christina Aguilera is the headliner of LA Pride in the Park, our music event with two stages, sponsor activations, exhibitors, and plenty of food and drink on Saturday, June 11 at Los Angeles State Historic Park. Gates open at 1PM, and the party goes until 11PM. Xtina will be joined by Anitta, Syd, Chika, Michaela Jaé, and over a dozen more! LA State Historic Park is a gorgeous green space in the Chinatown & Elysian Park neighborhoods with a capacity for 25,000. You will not want to miss this music event.

We held the first permitted gay parade in the world in 1970 and are still the original, official Pride parade of LA!

Come cheer on this iconic LGBTQ+ procession as we take back Hollywood Blvd, on Sunday, June 12. Over 130 contingents of marchers, performers, nonprofits, celebrities, and the businesses that proudly celebrate their LGBTQ+ employees will be on hand to delight and inspire as they walk in the 52nd Annual LA Pride Parade. Learn how to book a gaycation at a Hollywood hotel for LA Pride (June 10 & 11). Get best available Pride rates, and two free welcome cocktails at check-in!

Our epic after-hours Pride party is back at Universal Studios Hollywood™!

With your PRIDE IS UNIVERSAL ticket, begin entering Universal Studios Hollywood at 4PM with a General Admission ticket, or at 2pm with a VIP ticket, and enjoy the park with the regular guests during public operating hours. But then, the park closes to the public, and you and a few thousand of your closest LGBTQ+ friends get to stay for the Pride-only, after-hours theme park experience of your life! Last year sold out. Don’t miss your chance this year!
