With 31 weeks at No. 1 to their credit, Panic! at the Disco is now in third place among all rock musicians, which is pretty incredible considering some of the names they’re already ahead of. Last week, the alternative pop-rock outfit was tied for third place with Foo Fighters, who have amassed 30 frames in the peak position, but now that legendary group has been pushed to fourth.
Amazingly, Panic! at the Disco has collected all 31 weeks at No. 1 with just one single, while the other groups that surround them have managed at least two chart-toppers on the Hot Rock Songs list. In second place when it comes to the most frames in charge of the genre-specific chart is Twenty One Pilots, who have spent an incredible 62 weeks in charge. That’s a distant first place—it’s twice as many as Panic! currently claims—and they’re still not even close to matching the leader.
Rockers Imagine Dragons are in first place with 104 weeks at No. 1, which they’ve accrued thanks to five chart-owning songs. It’s quite possible that no matter what comes along, the band may never have to give up their spot on this specific ranking, as it’s tough to imagine (pun intended) anyone else collecting 100 weeks or more atop any chart.
Panic! at the Disco’s “High Hopes” will likely continue to rule for some time, raising the bar even higher, but once it does step down, it looks like the band will collect their second ruler, as their current single “Hey Look Ma, I Made It” is steady in second place. When (or, if) that does grab the throne, it will become Panic!’s second chart-topper, and it will continue to add to their career total weeks spent at No. 1.
