Mosquitoes in SoCal have just been tested positive for West Nile Virus and St. Louis Encephalitis.
The West Nile Virus is transmitted to people and animals through the bite of an infected mosquito. There's no cure and one in five infected individuals will get symptoms that include fever, headache, body aches, nausea or a skin rash.
According to the Greater Los Angeles County Vector Control District, the mosquitoes were collected from a trap in Hacienda Heights. Populations of the adult mosquitoes and test groups of adult female mosquitoes were monitored for the presence of the virus.
