Phoenix Talks About Working With Ezra Koenig On 'Tonight' & More!

Phoenix led an extraordinary performance at ALT 98.7's Alter Ego on Saturday (January 14). Phoenix opened their Alter Ego performance with their hit song "Lisztomania" from their fourth album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix.

The band spoke about their latest song "Tonight" with Ezra Koenig from the band Vampire Weekend. The song came together very "naturally" according to Phoenix in which they spoke about the success of the song in which it still ranks in the Adult Alternative charts for its sixth week.

Koenig was "great" to work with and even helped on the music video for their song "Tonight", the band shared.

The process for this album was "easier" according to the band in spite of some of the geographical distance between the actual bandmates, Phoenix said during their interview with Booker and Stryker during Alter Ego.

"The album is 34 minutes but we wrote it in 23," joked lead singer Thomas Mars.
