The 2026 American Music Awards kicked off on Monday (May 26), spotlighting the most iconic music of the year.

The genre-spanning event is hailed the largest fan-voted show in the world, with artists nominated via “fan engagement across streaming, album and song sales, radio airplay and tour grosses,” per the American Music Awards. Since the inaugural AMAs in 1974, the show is known for its “iconic performances and enduring moments that have defined and shaped pop culture, as well as a history of introducing audiences to breakthrough artists.”

Viewers can catch the AMAs live on CBS or streaming live on Paramount+ with a premium subscription. The show is taking place at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
