Sir Sly is packing venues on the regular nowadays, something that is especially true in their home of Los Angeles.
The group brings an abundance of energy to the stage for every show, something that was certainly on display at Sunday's ALT 98.7 Summer Camp. With so much energy, one might assume they hype themselves up with a ritual before hitting the stage. As it turns out, however, this is not quite the case.
Tamo caught up with the guys backstage before the performance to discuss.
"Maybe that's the secret — we save it all for the stage," drummer Hayden Coplan said. "We kind of just stand back there. Sometimes we give each other a hug and say, 'Hey, have a good show.'"
The group went on to provide Tamo, who is new to LA, with some tips to exploring the city.
"You'll spend your weekends doing some interesting stuff and looking for cool places to go," frontman Landon Jacobs said. "Gotta go to the Griffith Observatory, see a show at the Hollywood Bowl. That kind of stuff."
"Grand Central Market is always a good time," Coplan followed up. "Leo's Taco Truck on Pic and Venice in Mid-City, there's little gems everywhere."
Sir Sly opened their set with "Welcome The Pressure", complete with an iconic clip from the movie The Breakfast Club, before the guys got bouncing with a performance of "Gold". They went on to play a collection of old and new hits, closing things out with "&Run".
