You can now rent a private island in China for $700 a year, if you are willing to travel off the coast of China! The Chinese government has 500 islands off the coast, bordering North Korea.
The islands are then rented out by the Chinese government at different prices depending on the beaches, wildlife, or potential of development. Some are being rented up to $25 million or as little as $700 per year.
