LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A Desert Hot Springs woman was killed when she was struck by a vehicle while crossing a street in the Broadway-Manchester area of Los Angeles and the driver left the scene, authorities said Monday.
The crash occurred around 7:50 p.m. Saturday at Main and 92nd streets, according to a Los Angeles Police Department release.
The woman, identified as 18-year-old Dream Legarreta, stepped onto Main Street and was struck by a northbound dark-colored vehicle, police said. Instead of stopping to render aid and call for emergency services, the driver kept going northbound.
Paramedics attempted to save Legaretta's life but she was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
A reward of up to $50,000 is available to people who provide information leading to an offender's identification, apprehension and conviction or civil resolution.
Anyone with information was asked to call Detective Maricela Sasaki or Officer Gerald Chavarria, South Traffic Division detectives, at 323-421- 2500 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
