COMPTON (CNS) - Authorities planned to release details Monday about the shooting death of a 9-year-old boy in front of his grandfather's Compton home.

The Medical Examiner's office reported that Princeton Jones died at a private residence Saturday.

News agencies reported he was shot just after 7:30 p.m. Saturday on Haskins Avenue near Visalia Avenue.

Jones' mother, Creole Green, told ABC7 that he had autism. ``My goal ... was to give him the proper teachings and all the things that he needed in order to navigate this world independently one day," she told the TV station. ``I'm just devastated that my son's life ... the door was shut in front of him at 9 years old."

Sheriff's officials have not released information about the shooting, nor whether there were any arrests. Detectives planned to release details on Monday, according to the Sheriff's Information Bureau.
