There's A Liquor Store With A Secret Sandwich Shop In Highland Park

When you walk into Tinfoil Liquor & Grocery in Highland Park, you would never know that there's a delicious gourmet deli hiding inside.

Like any other liquor store you can pickup your chips, candy, sodas and beer. The owners converted a storage room in the back of the store into a deli. The only catch is that you have to say the secret password at the register to be allowed in.

Don't worry, the secret password is posted at the front counter. In case you're dying to know it now, its “Do you sell birthday candles?”. Then you'll be allowed through a door marked "employees only" right into sandwich heaven.

The place is pretty cool. The entire ceiling is lined with foil paper (hence the name). The floor is covered in 60,000 individually placed nickels.

Plus, the sandwiches are delicious. Choose from a menu of 6 signature sandwiches - including roast beef with yuzu dressing and Ham with brie butter and pickles. You can even pair your sandwich one of their suggested craft beers.

If you're feeling extra hungry, try one of their delicious sides - kale salad, beet salad, macaroni salad and potato salad.

Tinfoil Liquor & Grocery is located at:
5900 N. Figueroa Street
Los Angeles, California

Hours: 11am to 10pm
