Death Cab For Cutie Rocks ALT Summer Camp Feeling Like New Band

It been a few years since we last saw Death Cab For Cutie perform live in the LA area. The band's long-awaited return at ALT 98.7 Summer Camp did not disappoint their eager fans. From the opening guitar riff of "I Will Possess Your Heart" to the emotionally charged "Transatlanticism," Death Cab's catalogue of tearjerkers and bouncy beats left us all with a major case of the feels.

The band is set to drop their ninth studio album, Thank You For Today, on August 17th. Luckily for us, they performed some of their new material including the first single from the project "Gold Rush" and the recently released "Autumn Love."

Check out some of the top highlights from the performance below.

Harms caught up with Death Cab backstage before the performance to discuss several items, including why they feel 'like a new band in the best possible way' with new music coming out and the arrival of Zac Rae and Dave Depper.

"With Dave and Zac joining us in the band, and joining us in the studio to make this record, we realize how amazing of a skill set we have to play with both of those guys." Ben Gibbard said. "Not just one guy. There's two incredibly talented guys, who really had a massive hand in making this record what it is."

ALT 98.7 Summer Camp took place at the Queen Mary Events Park in Long Beach, California and featured performances from Death Cab For CutieODESZACHVRCHESJudah & The LionAJRSir SlyJungleLovelytheband and Superorganism. For more from Summer Camp click here.
