California to Offer $116M In COVID Vaccine Prize Money

California is now introducing a $116.5 million lottery as an incentive to get more people vaccinated and to award those who are already vaccinated.

Governor Newsom unveiled the lottery plan on Thursday a couple weeks before restrictions get lifted June 15th. It's being called "the biggest in the nation".

According to ABC 7, the lottery includes:

  • A $15 million cash grand prize, to be split between 10 vaccinated Californians
  • "$50,000 Fridays" cash prizes for 30 vaccinated Californians
  • $100 million in $50 gift cards for the next 2 million new fully vaccinated Californians
