A Lufthansa Airlines flight experienced a failed landing attempt at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on Tuesday (April 23). According to KTLA, the Boeing 747-8i, the largest version of the "Jumbo Jet," hit the runway hard and bounced twice before the pilot aborted the landing. The incident, known as a baulked landing, was captured on video and later posted on YouTube and other social media sites.

The flight, Lufthansa Flight 456, originated in Frankfurt, Germany. After the failed landing attempt, the aircraft circled the airport and landed without incident a short time later. According to a Lufthansa spokesperson, the flight was a 'training flight' with 326 passengers and 19 crew members on board.

No injuries were reported. The spokesperson told KTLA that the aircraft will undergo "additional inspection" in the coming days.

"Following an assessment by the cockpit crew, a consultation with the technical department on site and in Frankfurt and an initial visual inspection, the aircraft flew back to Frankfurt. There it will undergo an additional inspection."

KTLA also shared a photo of the plane on Instagram. The photo in question depicts the landing with smoke surrounding the plane as it touched the runway around 1:00 p.m. PST.
