Cold War Kids Rock Out on Their Home Town Stage at ALT Summer Camp

NCAA March Madness Music Festival 2018 - Day 2

Long Beach Natives, Cold War Kids, returned home to hit our ALT Summer Camp stage.

"We want to say we love Long Beach," the band yelled on stage.

The group, consisting of Nathan Willett (vocals, piano, guitar), Matt Maust (bass guitar), David Quon (guitar, backing vocals), Matthew Schwartz (keyboards, backing vocals, guitar, percussion), and Joe Plummer (drums, percussion) rocked out to a thirty minute set featuring new and old hits.

“This is a lovely day of music and we happen to be apart of it. Many great bands are here, so thank you guys,” Nathan welcomed the stage.

The band, whose music tends to give a deeper perspective on social issues, performed many of their hits including “First”, and their new song “Complainer”. The latter, a song that directly calls out someone who talks the talk yet does nothing to effectively change the world.

"Now you're out on your own, don't know where you belong/Don't sit around and complain about it/You say you want to change this world/Don't sit around and complain about it," the song rings.

After a two year hiatus, the band is finally back with a new album, NEW AGE NORMS, and a corresponding U.S. headlining tour in October and November.

Check out video of their performance below.
